Merlin's Magic

Preseli the “Magical Stone”; is also known as “Welsh Blue Dolerite”, “Blue Stone”, “Stonehenge Blue Stone” and “Prescelly Bluestone”. The name Preseli comes from the area in which it is found. Preseli is a commonly found crystal from the Welsh Preseli Hills of the United Kingdom.

It is an Igneous rock (formed from volcanic activity) containing Feldspar, Augite, Pyroxene and white spots of the mineral Plagioclase and is of the basalt class of minerals. It is also thought to contain Mica which is said to give it its glittery effect. It comes in mixed colours of blue, green and grey and is opaque in appearance; even in its tumbled state, it can still feel rough to the touch.

Preseli is a grounding crystal which can protect in both the physical and spiritual worlds. In the physical world, it is said to also protect the home and possessions. It may be used for personal growth and to help us be at peace with where we belong in the order of the world. It assists in connecting with the electromagnetic field of the Earth, the spirits of the earth and rocks, the mystical energy of Merlin and ancient Celtic and Egyptian knowledge.

Preseli benefits any form of communication whether that be public speaking or knowing whether someone’s spoken words are truthful, or, if someone is not adept at communicating clearly the stone can help you understand what is really meant by the words spoken. It can bring about change, new beginnings, and fulfilment of dreams, goals, and ideals by opening doors to new possibilities through their ability to promote the highest good for that situation.

Matters of the Heart

Preseli is associated with the Goddesses Gaia, the Greek Earth Mother, and Asherah who was the great Canaanite Mother Goddess.

Preseli is not associated with any particular Angel.

Preseli is primarily associated with the Third Eye or Brow Chakra (Ajna), relating to insight, intuition, awareness and guidance, and the Throat Chakra (Vishuddha), relating to communication; and is from where you speak your truth. However it also strongly resonates with the Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura), relating to our identity and our power in this world, and will help to connect the Soma, Throat, Thymus or Higher Heart and the Heart Chakras.

In crystal healing, Preseli is said to help with symptoms relating to the following illnesses and areas of the body: bone fractures (small bones such as toes and fingers), ears, electrical systems, hippocampus (in the temporal lobe of the brain which is primarily related to memory), immune system, neurotransmitters and the throat. It is also thought to help with all physical healing when added to bathwater or as an elixir.

WARNING: Extreme care should be taken if treating clients with heart conditions, particularly those with a pacemaker, or who are prone to tachycardia (fast heart rate). Experienced practitioners who are careful with this crystal may find it helps to balance and regulate the heart in clients with palpitations or tachycardia.

Emotionally, Preseli is said to assist with anxiety and panic attacks, courage, emotional strength, insomnia, phobias and relaxation. It aids the healing of emotional wounds following a break-up of a relationship and can help you see the funny side of things.

Spiritually, it can help with developing psychic abilities and letting go of old misconceptions, like an onion peeling away the layers that have shaped our beliefs, and be open to new ideas. In this way, it is an incredibly useful crystal to use for Shamanic Soul Retrieval work to act as an anchor whilst journeying.

Preseli is not a traditional, ancient or modern birthstone nor is it on the anniversary list.
