Success & Abaundance

Citrine the “Stone of Abundance” and “Stone of Success” has been in use in jewellery making since at least 300 BC. The name Citrine comes from the French word “citron” meaning “lemon”. Citrine is a common crystal found in America, Brazil, Britain, Burma, France, Madagascar, Russia and Spain.

It is a Silicon Dioxide of the silicates class of crystals. It comes in various shades of yellow and is translucent to opaque in appearance. Its colour varies according to the location where it is found, and whether or not it has been heat-treated.

Citrine is a variety of quartz and will attract wealth of all kinds but is particularly useful for working on increasing your finances. Place a piece in the wealth corner of your home or business and in your till, purse or wallet at all times to ensure against reckless spending. In addition to manifesting abundance, Citrine also brings energies of generosity so that prosperity and success is shared.

It is a crystal which helps with mental clarity, creativity and is also energising. Just looking at it can evoke images of bright sunny days; an instant mood lifter. Carrying a piece of Citrine attracts love and happiness whilst guarding against those who would hurt your heart. It is also an effective crystal to use as a shield against jealousy and spite.

Natural Citrine does not hold or accumulate negative energy, but transmutes, dissipates, and grounds it. It is one of only two crystals that is said to never need to be cleared or cleansed; the other being Kyanite. However, if you are using crystals for healing on clients or friends they should be cleansed after each use.

Citrine is associated with the Goddesses Demeter, the Greek Goddess of the Harvest, and Sekhmet, the Egyptian Goddess of War & Healing.

Citrine is associated with Archangel Gabriel, whose name means “Messenger of God” and is the Angel of children, creativity and good news.

The Happinator

Citrine is primarily associated with the Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura) relating to our identity and our power in this world. Its secondary Chakra is the Sacral Chakra (Svadhistana) relating to creativity, sensuality, sexuality and desire for pleasure. It activates and opens the Solar Plexus and Sacral chakras and cleanses all of the chakras.

In crystal healing, Citrine is said to help with symptoms relating to the following illnesses and areas of the body: circulatory problems, diabetes, digestion, digestive system health, encouraging proper metabolism, eye disorders and infections, food poisoning, gallbladder, headache and migraine relief, kidney disorders, pancreas, seasonal affective disorder (SAD), spleen, thyroid balance, tissue healing and verbal communication. It is beneficial for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) by enhancing physical stamina and energy and may also aid in reversing degenerative disease. As the yellow colour of Citrine would suggest it’s purported to be beneficial in the treatment of bed wetting, particularly in young adults.

Emotionally, Citrine is said to assist with courage, creativity, deep-seated fears and phobias, depression, dispel or release negativity, enjoyment, happiness, honesty, hope, inspiration, joy, self-confidence, self-worth, shyness and suicidal thoughts. Spiritually it aids abundance, enhancing psychic abilities and manifestation.

Citrine is not a traditional or ancient birthstone but is a modern birthstone for the Zodiac signs of Aries (21st March - 19th April), Gemini (21st May - 20th June), Leo (23rd July - 22nd August) and Libra (23rd September - 22nd October).

Citrine is on the traditional anniversary list for the 13th anniversary, and on the alternative list for the 17th anniversary.

Meditation

Citrine is a perfect crystal for meditating with to bring abundance, personal power, willpower, self-esteem and confidence. When you feel low and life seems dark hold this beautiful bright yellow stone, which may have sparkly inclusions in it, in your hand and gaze into it imagining the sun is shining and its rays are penetrating through to every part of you increasing your inner light.

Affirmation: I have an abundance of what I need in my life.

Warning: Citrine fades in sunlight so ensure you do not leave it in direct light; especially, if you are wearing it in the form of jewellery whilst sunbathing. Citrine may also increase aggressiveness in some people; therefore, it is not recommended for those who have a quick or fiery temper or those who have a tendency to gossip about or slander others.

Important to Know

WARNING: As with all crystals you use regularly, don’t forget to cleanse and recharge it at least once a month.

For crystal healers who use crystals in their work, they should be cleansed after each client to remove any negative energy prior to being used on someone else.
