Black Tourmaline (Schorl) the “Stone of Protection” and “Force Field Protector”; is also known as “Schorl Tourmaline”. The name Schorl was in use before the 1400's, named for a town in Saxony, Germany, where Black Tourmaline was found in nearby tin mines. It is a commonly found crystal from America, Australia, Brazil, China, India, Namibia, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. It is a Sodium Iron Aluminium Boro Silicate of the silicates class of crystals.

 

It is opaque in appearance and although the most common colour is black, Tourmaline can be found in a range of colours from brown, violet, green, red, blue, yellow, orange, pink, or in a dual-coloured pink and green known as Watermelon Tourmaline or it may be any combination of two or more of these colours when it is known as Rainbow Tourmaline. The energy of the Tourmaline matches the energy of the related chakra colour.

 

Black Tourmaline is a powerful grounding and protective crystal which can remove and block negative energy and protect the user from psychic attack. If it also contains Mica, it will send that energy back to the person who sent it, allowing the sender to realise what has happened. It is also useful for empaths who are affected by energy vampires and will prevent you from picking up other people’s toxic energy and taking it on within your own aura.

Tourmaline was used by The Egyptians, the Romans and by Shamans of the African, Native American and Aboriginal tribes. In India, a likeness of Alexander the Great was carved in Tourmaline which dates back to around the second or third century B.C. It is also a great crystal to use for scrying.

 

Black Tourmaline is associated with the following Goddesses: Manat, the Arabian Goddess of the Waning Moon, Time, Destiny and Death. She rules as a triple Goddess with Allat and Al-Uzza. It is also associated with Aradia, the Tuscany Witch Goddess, and Hine-Nui-Te-Po, the Polynesian Goddess of the Night.

 

Black Tourmaline is not associated with any particular Angel. However, Pink Tourmaline is associated with Archangel Jophiel whose name means “Beauty of God” and who is the Angel of Patience, Wisdom and Illumination. Watermelon Tourmaline is associated with Archangel Metatron (who was also the prophet and scribe Enoch). He is the Angel of Children and Messengers and his job is to record everything that happens on Earth and record it in the Akashic records.
