Transformation

The butterfly is a beautiful animal and has strong ties to mythology and spirituality around the world. For example, Aristotle called the butterfly psyche, as it was a symbol of the soul. In Japanese tradition, the butterfly represents joy and colour. But wherever in the world you look, the butterfly is (mostly) a symbol of transformation due to its metamorphosis.

Unlike the Phoenix, whose transformation can be downright brutal at times, Butterfly goes through stages that are gentler, yet just as profound. When the caterpillar disappears in the pupa, it actually turns into some kind of soup before it re-forms itself into the butterfly, which then emerges at the end of the transformational period.

Thus, Butterfly shows us that we are transforming on the deepest level of ourselves. If you have not yet noticed the signs within you, coming across this animal repeatedly, waking or dreaming, will let you know, you are already changing on an energetic level and your mind will follow the call.

When you are going through Butterfly’s transformation, you will literally not be the same when you come out as when you went in. Your energy is undergoing great shifts, your mental processing will adjust to this and more and more layers of illusion and blockages are being stripped away to bring out the new you, which really is a more authentic version of yourself; a new you that is more in line with your soul purpose, your essence of who you are.

Surrender to Change

Changes can be scary. It seems that most people fear the unfamiliar and that which they do not know, so tend to cling to the old. However, when you are going through such a profound shift as Butterfly heralds, you don’t really have a choice any longer to deny this. The call of your soul, the pure essence of your spirit, which is light and life, cannot be denied any longer. Therefore, it is best to surrender to the inevitable and put up as little resistance as possible, because it will make the transition so much easier for you; so the motto is, “Face your fear and do it anyway.”

Butterfly is a being of the air, it has paper-thin wings and shines in many colours in the sunshine. When you go through a transformation with Butterfly as your guide and support, you will find yourself becoming lighter, more vibrant and lively, and more unencumbered of all those fears, worries and a more negative outlook on life in general.

Your perception shifts with your energy and mental thought processes. Where once you saw disaster, obstacles and felt small and helpless, unworthy and not enough, you are now growing into seeing the beauty of life, you enjoy the finer things more, your experiences will match your new inner perception as well. Things fall easily – and lightly – into place, new people show up that support and help you on your journey and you will find yourself in the right place at the right time.

But although this is the ultimate result in the material manifestation, Butterfly stands for this inner shift, the dissolving of all the heaviness there was before and the profound shift into a completely new way of being, so your soul sings and takes flight.
