Wohpe is the Native American Star Goddess of the Lakota tribe. She is the daughter of the Sungod Wi and the Moongoddess Hanwi and was destined to be a mediator to which end her father bestowed special powers upon her. Her name means meteor and a shooting star is a sign that Wohpe is intervening on behalf of the humans, as she is their guardian and protector. She is the Goddess of Peace, Beauty, Harmony and Love and was later identified with White Buffalo Calf Woman. The delivery of the peace pipe and the teaching of seasons and rituals is attributed to Wohpe.
