The Sunset Stone

Botswana Agate the “Comfort Stone” and “Stone of Protection” is also known as the “Sunset Stone”. The name Botswana Agate comes from the area of Africa where it is mined. Botswana Agate is a common crystal found solely in Africa.

It is a form of banded Chalcedony (silicon dioxide) of the silicates class of crystals. It comes in various shades of Cream, Grey, Pink and White, and is opaque with distinctive banding in circular ovoid shapes.

Botswana Agate has a gentle energy that works very slowly and in a subtle way helping those who have repressed emotional issues that need to be addressed; so that they can release them in order to heal. It is an ideal crystal for sensitive people and especially children or teenagers who are easily hurt by teasing or peer pressure, sometimes assisting them to move on and form new friendships with others who are like-minded.

It is a protective crystal for those who work with fire and also protects the home from fire too. Botswana Agate absorbs negative energy and toxicity and is useful to prevent out-of-body visitations from other souls and repels unwelcome spirits.

Legend states that Botswana Agate with an "eye" formation in the banding is considered very lucky. Civilizations in the Middle East and Africa cherished them for their powers of protection against any type of evil influence or negativity. They were often offered to the Gods of the elements to protect their harvests from drought, flooding or insect invasions.
